Clara Adolphs is based in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. Completing her Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts at the University of New South wales in 2008, she has since held solo exhibitions throughout Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Clara Adolphs artworks explore the notion of time and memory, she is fascinated by the question of what remains after a moment as passed. Abandoned photographs are often the starting point for her paintings and the anonymity of the characters in intended to afford sentimentality. Adolphs disconnects their identities, in turns allowing for the focus on the indefinable, yet timeless, collective nature of the human experience.

Adolphs uses a palette knife and brushes with a generous amount of paint to create her work, and she "Takes much pleasure in surrendering control and allowing the paint to take a life of its own, and I find my practice is a constant quest to find the dynamic balance of texture, mark and line within paint."
