Laura Jones in Light & Life

This year Laura Jones created a series of new work at the Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Artist live-in artist in Residency. The paintings from the residency are now on view for the exhibition ‘Light & Life: Margaret Olley, Laura Jones, India Mark and Mirra Whale’ on view from 18 Oct 2023 – 28 Apr 2024

‘Light & Life brings together superb still life paintings by Margaret Olley from public and private collections alongside new work by three contemporary Australian painters – Laura Jones, India Mark and Mirra Whale. By special invitation, Jones, Mark and Whale have created new work in response to objects from the re-creation of Olley’s home studio and to a selection of paintings by Olley from various decades in her enduring career. Light & Life offers a rich opportunity to explore Olley’s artwork in quiet conversation with the work of three contemporary still life painters further extending Olley’s legacy and her standing as Australia’s most celebrated painter of still life.’
