CHALK HORSE is thrilled to present Jason Phu’s upcoming solo exhibition, peace in my mind, love in my heart and a stomach full of butterflies. The show will be on view at the gallery from April 24th to May 25th.
Phu will be presenting a combination of new paintings, as well as a series of Chinese ink works on paper. The ink series, titled after sengai, but as similar as an eggplant is to a penis, was created in 2015 and is being exhibited at CHALK HORSE for the first time.
“Sengai went for a walk in the park and saw an old broken kettle someone had thrown out” – Jason Phu
The exhibition will also feature a suite of Phu’s most recent paintings. The artist says, “two solo shows 9 years apart. it is a youthful and handsome jason phu combined with an old and haggard jason phu to make a jasonason phuphu.”
