LAURA JONES’ PORTRAIT OF ACTOR CLAUDIA KARVAN IS A FINALIST IN THIS YEARS ARCHIBALD PRIZE
We’re thrilled to announce that Laura Jones is a finalist in the Archibald Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales with her portrait of Claudia Karvan titled ‘Claudia (the GOAT)’.
‘I painted Claudia’s portrait after seeing The goat, or who is Sylvia? at Sydney Theatre Company,’ says three-time Archibald finalist Laura Jones. ‘[American playwright] Edward Albee’s play is a dark, satirical comedy in which Claudia’s character, Stevie, sees her perfect middle-class world crumble around her. She gave a brilliant performance.’ – Laura Jones, 2023
The exhibition is on view from May 6-Sept 3 at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Congratulations to all entrants and finalists.
